Love my first pedicure of the season with Fresh Mint

I am going to brag a little - I have the best man in my life! His names is Sergey (it's a Russian name) and he is my hubby. He is a manly man and all things a woman wants in a manly man. He is strong and sensitive at the same time. He is generous, never stingy, very hospitable, caring, thoughtful (especially in little things) and absolutely amazing at listening part. He knows when I'm at my low to plant many kisses on my cheeks or when I'm energized and full of vigor, to stay out of my way. I call him 'solntse' which translates into English as sun or sunshine, because he really does have that effect on my life. He encourages me in my ventures and supports unconditionally and all the way. Lately, there have been so much going on in life yet he has been there for me every step of the way. I think, yesterday I reached my all time low, I came home at the end of a long day, after disappointments, feeling like the weight of the entire world was on my shoulders and just cried. I cried about everything that was wrong and everything I had to do and threw myself a huge pity-party, but hubby was right there. He just sat there with me, holding me in his arms as I poured my heart out. And then... I felt so much better. I felt like the world wasn't going to end and the weight has lifted. He gave me kisses and brought some sweat treats (which is the key to a woman's heart after she broke down); then we sat on the couch, enjoying music and cheese, which was absolutely delicious by the way.
P.S. I love you babe!
P.P.S. I think God has a sense of humor. After I wrote this post, my hubby did the laundry for me. Long story short, that didn't turn out so well(lol) and two of my merino wool sweaters were kinda  ruined. We all make mistakes because we are human. You are still awesome and I still love you.

She Stripes Again

Shirt Dress: Forever 21
Capri: Old Navy
Shoes: Guess via TJMaxx
Clutch, bracelet: H&M
Necklace: gift
Belt: Target
Shades: LOFT

WHEN: Today @ work as a substitute teacher

I think it's my new thing - stripes. I should probably write it in my "About" page and put my mark on the history. Well... not quite. Honestly, I was just wandering this morning - how am I (a math teacher) going to come up with something to write about every day, if I have hardly taken any English courses in college AND   I'm a second language speaker, have been in USA only last 8 yrs? Not quite sure. Therefore sometimes I am going to just ramble on and you may skip the rambling part and just comment on pictures.

It's Okay

(with Gray Shoes)

Yesterday I was lost. I looked at my closet for about 20 minutes and couldn't find anything inspiring to wear. So I came to a conclusion that some days are just going to be blah. A blah outfit, blah food, blah thoughts and blah everything else. And that's okay. It's OK not to be inspirational and wear jeans with a sweatshirt, sit on the couch with hubs and watch some lame movie. It's OK just want to stay in bed all day and not do anything. It's OK to leave dishes for the next day and completely forget to take laundry out of dryer. We need those days just to remind ourselves that life will go on and everything is going to be okzay!

(Not) Complaining

Skirt: J.Crew
Clutch: H&M
Shoes: Burlington Coat Factory
Shades: LOFT
Pearls: Gift from hubby

WHEN: Sunday church and visit to in-laws
It's Sunday night.I'm sitting on the couch with my fuzzy PJs and 2(!) pairs of socks on, with heat still on and I'm freezing! What is up with the weather? It was gorgeously sunny out but not warm, not even a little bit. So here I am not complaining about the weather and not saying that I'm sick and tired of cold, and not saying that I want to turn off the heat in the house. I am so ready to wear my new white jeans which I think look great on me, and you know how hard it is to find white jeans that don't make you look fat (I got them before my resolution)
P.S. I will say a prayer for all my not complaining tonight

Serving Tray (DIY)

So here is a long promised DIY project, well, more like a make over. I was doing a Baby Shower for my girlfriend and needed a serving tray for decorations. Instead of buying one, I decided to Do It Myself because I would make it exactly the way I wanted it.

You Will Need:

  1. Serving tray
  2. Spray Paint (color of your choice)
  3. Gloves
  4. Newspaper/old magazines
  5. Card stock (the harder, the better)
  6. Super Glue

I went to a thrift store and bought an old serving tray in ugly red and yellow, layered my J.Crew catalog underneath the tray to protect the porch from over spray, threw on a pair of gloves and got to work.

The trick with spray paint is you have to be patient and use multiple coats, otherwise you will end up with runs. First coat was just a white primer. But I didn't want it to be white, so I had off-white color spray paint (donated to me by my father-in-law) which I used.

After I thoroughly covered the tray with first coat, I let it dry for about 30 minutes. Then I did two more coats of beige (off-white) with couple of hours of drying time in between.
I bought card stock at Hobby Lobby that would nicely match the beige and serve me well after the party is over. I picked out a nice vintage pattern and cut it to the size of the tray. Next, to make sure that the paper will be secured and the surface would remain smooth, I glued it on with super glue (make sure to keep your gloves on and don't use glue gun).

TA-DA!!!

Note for Self: Make sure you are paying attention to the gluing part and not talking to your mother while doing it. See how the pattern went from horizontal to vertical? Yeah, not good... and super glue isn't nice when it's being ripped off.

Here it is being used at the Baby Shower

Another way to style it! There are so many ways to use it that I'm already excited by how nice it came out.
(I DIY the flower pot below with spray paint too)

I hope you liked this! Enjoy!
